The Finance Team Ministry is an important resource and key voice in helping St. Matthew’s in the stewardship of the church’s finances. Responsibilities include preparing the budget, reviewing financial performance, preparing and presenting vestry and parish financial reports, leading and participating in the annual audit, and providing input on a number of miscellaneous financial matters.
Any adult with interest in Stewardship or finance is more than welcome to be involved in this aspect of life at St. Matthew’s. The finance team meets monthly approximately 6 times a year and two weekend mornings for the yearly financial audit. Members of the Finance Committee rotate as counters after each Sunday and holiday service. Counters are responsible for collating the Sunday collection and weekly receipts, inputting the detail into the online database system, preparing the electronic deposit and depositing any cash in the bank’s overnight deposit box. Counting is assigned approximately once a month.
