News About St Matthews Building Improvements
Work on the deteriorating Hartrey entrance landings and stairs will begin this Thursday, July 19th when the concrete contractor will remove the existing railings and set up forms. Depending on weather, the pour adding a layer of five inches of concrete over the existing landings and stairs will happen Friday July 20th or Monday July 23rd.
The Hartrey entrance will then be closed for three weeks as the railing contractor measures, fabricates and installs the new railings.
Here is a picture of the work to be done, including the new railing design:
Thanks to Donna Lee Floeter, the architect for the project, who donated 1/2 of her architectural fees back to the church!!
The Hartrey entryway was deteriorating and unsightly. The new concrete should last for many years to come and provide a much safer and attractive entryway into the parish building, welcoming all who enter!
