BURIAL OF THE DEAD
Funeral policies for active member families

CHURCH
Either the Church or Chapel can be used for the Rite of Christian Burial.

CLERGY
While no fee is charged for our clergy, a contribution to the Rector’s Discretionary Fund, which is restricted to helping the poor, is certainly appreciated. Engagement of other clergy is subject to the approval of St. Matthew’s Rector. | donation

BURIAL IN CHURCHYARD
We are not able to bury ornamental urns, wooden boxes, etc., the ashes should be delivered to St. Matthew’s in a simple box with the ashes in a plastic bag.  We will transfer them into a biodegradable box which is then buried in the earth. A bronze plaque will be placed on the Memorial Wall.  St. Matthew’s will maintain the beauty of the Churchyard for years to come with funds provided for this service. | $750

BULLETIN
Production of a bulletin/program for the funeral liturgy is highly recommended in order to allow everyone present to participate as fully as possible.  Our Parish Administrator takes care of the production of bulletins.  Materials such as cover pictures, quotes to be included, names of participants, etc. may be sent to julie@stmatthewsevanston.org | $50

RECEPTION
The Parish Hall or Assembly Room can be made available for your use according to the Parish calendar. A simple reception (such as cookies and coffee) can be provided by St. Matthew's, or you may hire your own caterer if you wish to have something more elaborate. If you choose to have food catered, please work with the Parish Staff to determine kitchen availability and to learn about St. Matthew's Zero Waste event policies regarding food waste and disposable items.
